Moore fills a huge gap in the secondary and will be paired with Erik Coleman and fill the spot left by Lawyer Milloy.

So, my time away from the blog is over.

After being swamped with work, school and other things in life I finally have the time to be active once again. The Emperor of the South has returned to his throne.

Lame? I know, but who knows it might stick.

The Future.

Braves boast best Spring Training record in baseball

Written by cthomas on March 18, 2009 – 10:06 pm -

The Braves have dominated competition this spring and shown that perhaps the future in Atlanta is the brighest. Hanson has been dominant along with the rest of the pitching staff, excluding Glavine. The Braves battled the Mets today and won 7-4 as Hanson pitched four innings giving up two unearned runs as the Braves continue to dominate.

Some more good news has to be Chipper is back with the Braves and won’t risk further injury with Team USA and will take a break to heal and get ready for the opener. Same situation with newly acquired Brave Garrett Anderson who will likely miss the rest of Spring Training, but be ready for opening day.

LJ Smith will not sign with the Falcons

Written by cthomas on March 16, 2009 – 9:32 pm -

Good news struck today when the AJC reported L.J. Smith was not going to sign with the Atlanta Falcons. Smith has been on bad terms with Eagles management and fans the last couple of seasons. His poor blocking and dropped passes has led to the current situation he’s in right now.

Falcons fans all over should be rejoicing because in the run heavy offense the Falcons run adding Smith would be a downgrade at the TE position.

The Falcons, however, are still without a TE and may have to add one through the draft.

Chipper Jones strains oblique in WBC

Written by cthomas on March 9, 2009 – 5:57 pm -

Chipper has just never been able to catch a break. Although it seems as of right now it will not keep him out for long and is feeling ok. That is a good sign and losing him for significant time just isn’t an option this early in the season.

Which Brave is missed most by the fans?

Written by cthomas on March 2, 2009 – 9:46 pm -

As I was doing my daily AJC sports browsing I came across an interesting poll; which brave do I miss the most? It gave you six different Braves and it wasn’t hard to decide who I missed most, and that is Marquis Grissom ( not really, but I always was fasicnated by him for some odd reason).

First option, Andruw Jones. Do I miss his production at the end of his tenure with the Braves? No, but I do miss his glove and his power from 3 years ago. So in a sense, yes.

Second, Mark Teixeira. Surprisingly, this is my choice only because I’m always going to think of what could of been. If Teixeira has a stellar career with the Yankees like expected then my hatred towards Frank Wren will only grow even deeper. Teixeira played college baseball at Tech and quickly became a local icon. Giving him to the Angels in a Pau Gasol esque way has left lots of fans bitter towards Wren.

Third, John Smoltz. Do I really need to get started here?

Fourth, Mike Hampton. I took this as a joke.

Fifth, Marcus Giles. Well, Giles was a very reliable hitter in the second spot but really fell off during his last season with the club. Johnson has struggled at times but Giles brings nothing Johnson can’t bring.

Sixth, Edgar Renteria. I’d miss him if he played like he did in 2007 every year. Unfortunately he only plays when money is on the line. Escobar is a huge upgrade and comes at a lot less steap of a price.
